What is the last date to apply for SSC JHT 2026?

Today — 14 May 2026 (11 PM IST). Fee payment window closes on 15 May 2026. After that, a correction window will be available from 19–20 May 2026 (with applicable charges). Apply immediately at ssc.gov.in.

What is the eligibility for SSC JHT 2026?

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Hindi or English from a recognised university with the other language as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level. Additionally, a Diploma/Certificate in translation OR 2 years' translation experience (3 years for Senior posts) in Central/State Govt office is required. Age: 18–30 years as on 01 August 2026.

Question Icon

What is the salary of SSC JHT / SHT?

Junior-level posts (JHT, JTO, JT) fall under Pay Level-6: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400/month basic pay plus DA, HRA, and other central government allowances. Senior-level posts (SHT, STO) fall under Pay Level-7: ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400/month basic pay plus allowances.

Question Icon

What is the new change in SSC JHT 2026 exam pattern?

The major new change in SSC JHT 2026 is sectional timing in Paper I. Each section — General Hindi and General English — now gets exactly 1 hour separately. You cannot move between sections during the allocated time. Total Paper I duration remains 2 hours. This is a significant change from previous years where candidates could freely switch between sections.

Question Icon

Which paper carries more weightage in SSC JHT final merit?

Paper II (Descriptive — Translation + Essay) carries 100% weightage in the final merit list. Paper I (CBT) carries 50% weightage. This means Paper II is the decisive factor. Candidates who qualify Paper I are shortlisted for Paper II — but the final rank depends primarily on Paper II performance. Strong translation and essay writing skills are essential.
