Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the short indicative notice for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 under CEN 02/2026 on 18 May 2026. A total of 6,565 vacancies have been announced across 21 Railway zones — 323 posts for Technician Grade I Signal and 6,242 posts for Technician Grade III. The detailed notification with zone-wise and category-wise vacancy data will be released before 30 June 2026. Applications open at rrbapply.gov.in from 30 June 2026. ⚠️ Separate Application Required for Each Pay Level. 
Grade I Signal (Pay Level-6) and Grade III (Pay Level-2) are different pay levels. You must submit separate applications and pay separate fees for each. A single application covering both grades is NOT valid.

⚠️ If applying for both Grade I (Level-6) and Grade III (Level-2), you must pay fee twice — once per pay level. Each has a separate application and separate CBT.

⚠️ Category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) and zone-wise vacancy breakdown will be published in the detailed notification before 30 June 2026. Central Railway (Mumbai) has 870 posts — highest among all zones based on approved data.

🎯 Selection Process

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) ⭐ Merit Deciding Stage

   100 MCQ questions · 90 minutes · Bilingual (Hindi + English). Grade I: Computer Science/IT concepts + Electronics + Math + Reasoning + GK. Grade III: Trade-specific technical + Math + Reasoning + Science + GK. Negative marking: −1/3 per wrong answer. Normalisation applied if CBT held in multiple shifts.
   

2. Document Verification (DV) Qualifying · 1:1 shortlisting

   Shortlisted at 1:1 ratio of vacancies from CBT merit. Originals verified: education, age proof, ITI/Diploma, category certificate. Any discrepancy = disqualification.
   

3. Medical Examination Qualifying

   Conducted by Railway Administration. Vision standards (A2/B1/C1 depending on post) are critical for railway technical posts. Colour blindness tested. Appeal to Board of Medical Officers permitted if unfit.

• 💡 This section has the highest weight. Revise your ITI trade textbooks completely — past railway exam papers repeat concepts.

General Awareness + Science

• 💡 Read one newspaper and specifically follow Railway Ministry news — examiners favor Railways GK.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

• Negative marking −1/3 in CBT. Do not guess randomly. If unsure, skip the question. Three wrong answers cancel one correct answer.

• Apply to only one RRB per pay level. Applying to multiple RRBs for same pay level = disqualification from the entire CEN. Choose wisely based on zone preference.

• Detailed notification with zone-wise vacancies, complete eligibility, and syllabus will be released before 30 June 2026 at rrbapply.gov.in. This page will be updated immediately.

• Aadhaar details must exactly match Class 10 records. Mismatch during Aadhaar verification = form submission rejected.

• Grade I and Grade III are separate applications with separate fee. If you are eligible for both, apply and pay fee twice.

• Fee refund on appearing: Gen/OBC/EWS gets ₹400 back · Reserved categories get full ₹250 back. Effectively almost free if you appear for CBT.

• Grade III has 6,242 posts — significantly higher chances vs Grade I (323). ITI holders should focus on Grade III preparation from now.
