🏛️ CBSE · National Level · Eligibility Test

📅 Apply: 11 May – 10 Jun 2026

✏️ Exam: 06 Sep 2026 (Offline · OMR)

✅ No Negative Marking

📜 Certificate: Lifetime Validity

✅ No Negative Marking in CTET

All 150 questions in each paper carry 1 mark each. There is no deduction for wrong answers — attempt all 150 questions in both papers. This is a significant advantage over most other competitive exams.

ℹ️ CTET is an eligibility test — not a job recruitment. Qualifying CTET does not guarantee any government job. It makes you eligible to apply for teaching positions in KVS, NVS, Central Govt Schools, and many State Govt schools (UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana etc.). Qualification is one of the criteria for teacher recruitment.

🎓 Eligibility — Paper-wise

🎯 Minimum Qualifying Marks to Pass CTET

📝 Exam Pattern — Both Papers

📚 Preparation Strategy — High Priority Topics

Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP)

  • Core

  • Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg theories · Inclusive education · Learning and motivation · Assessment and evaluation · Special needs children · NCF 2005 · NEP 2020

  • 💡 Highest weightage section — 30 marks in both papers. NCERT psychology texts + CTET-specific CDP books are essential.

Language I + Language II

  • 60 Marks

  • Reading comprehension · Unseen passages · Grammar · Pedagogy of language teaching · Language acquisition · Communication and skills

  • 💡 60 marks from language sections. Choose languages you're comfortable in. Pedagogy questions are conceptual — study teaching methodology.

Mathematics (Paper I + II)

  • 30 Marks

  • Numbers · Shapes · Measurement · Data handling · Basic algebra · Arithmetic operations · Mathematical pedagogy

  • 💡 NCERT Class 1–8 Maths is the syllabus. Focus on pedagogy section (how to teach maths) as much as content. 50:50 split typically.

EVS / Social Studies (Paper I/II)

  • 30–60 Marks

  • Environment · Family and community · Food · Shelter · Water · Travel · Things we make · Social science content for Class 6–8 (History, Geo, Civics)

  • 💡 NCERT books Class 3–8 cover the entire content. Pedagogy of EVS is heavily tested — read NCERT teacher guides.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

  • Exam centre city is allotted randomly by CBSE. You cannot demand a specific city. Do not plan non-refundable travel/hotel before city intimation slip is released.

  • CTET qualification does not guarantee any job— it is only one eligibility criterion. You must separately apply for teaching recruitment (KVS, NVS, state TET-based jobs) after qualifying.

  • Correction window: 15–18 June 2026— use this to correct any mistakes in your application form. No correction after this window.

  • Both Paper I and Paper II are on the same day (06 Sep 2026) in two shifts. If applying for both, time management between shifts is important.

  • No negative marking — attempt all 150 questions in every paper. Even a random guess has positive expected value.

  • CTET certificate has lifetime validity. Once qualified, you never need to appear again (unless you want to improve score for recruitment weightage).

  • Apply at ctet.nic.in only. Applications on cbse.gov.in are also accepted. No other portal is valid.
