🏫 What is GIC Lecturer? What is a Government Intermediate College?

GIC = Government Intermediate College — state-run secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh that cater to Classes 9-12 (Intermediate level). Lecturer posts in GICs are equivalent to PGT (Post-Graduate Teacher) level — teaching at Class 11-12 in specific subjects. These are permanent state government teaching posts under the UP Secondary Education Department. Post-graduate (PG/Master's) degree in the relevant subject is the minimum academic requirement. UPPSC conducts recruitment for GIC Lecturer posts through a Written Exam (Prelims + Mains) followed by Interview.

Objective-type written screening exam. Results released subject-wise from 20 July 2026 onwards. Qualifying candidates are now filling the Mains form.

Mains Written Examination (CURRENT STAGE)

Detailed subject-specific written exam for Mains form applicants. Subject-specific paper covering advanced knowledge of the lecturer's discipline. Date to be announced by UPPSC after Mains form submission window closes (post 12 August 2026).

Interview

Mains-qualified candidates are called for Interview — assessing subject knowledge, teaching aptitude, and communication skills for UP secondary education service.

Document Verification

Original certificates: PG degree (relevant subject), age proof, UP domicile, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH as applicable), and any other documents specified in the notification.

What is GIC in UPPSC GIC Lecturer — what subjects are covered?
