🏆 Should You Appear?

Bottom Line:

UGC NET is the single most important exam for anyone targeting a teaching career in Indian colleges and universities. No negative marking, 85 subjects, twice a year — the only reason not to appear is ineligibility. If you have a Master's with 55%+, apply now. Last date is 20 May 2026. Don't wait.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

  • Two official portals: ugcnet.nta.nic.in and ugcnet.nta.ac.in— both are official. Use either to apply. Don't use any third-party site.

  • Category change is NOT permitted after form submission. Double-check your category before submitting.

  • JRF option must be selected at the time of applying — cannot be changed later. Select it if you are under 30.

  • Paper 2 subject selected cannot be changed after form submission. Choose your strongest Masters subject carefully.

  • No negative marking — attempt all 150 questions. Leaving any blank is losing free marks.

  • Assistant Professor certificate has lifetime validity. Even if you don't use it now — qualifying once is permanent benefit.
