📊 Vacancy Distribution
🎯 Selection Process
Written Examination (OMR-based) ⭐ Most Critical Stage
Objective MCQ exam, 150 questions, 450 marks total, 3 hours. Two parts: Part A — General Knowledge (50 Qs, 150 marks) and Part B — Law (100 Qs, 300 marks). Negative marking: 1 mark deducted per wrong answer. Law section has double the weight — this is where selection is decided.
Interview / Personality Test 100 Marks
Shortlisted candidates from written exam called for interview. Assesses legal knowledge, communication, and suitability for prosecution role. Final merit = written exam marks + interview marks.
Special Rule Important
If the number of valid applicants is less than 500, MPPSC may directly conduct interview without written examination. Given only 17 posts, this is worth monitoring after application window closes.
📝 Exam Pattern
📚 Syllabus + Strategy
Criminal Law & Procedure (High)
IPC (Indian Penal Code) · CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) · Evidence Act · Juvenile Justice Act · NDPS Act · Prevention of Corruption Act · POCSO
💡 These form the backbone of 100 Law questions. Master IPC sections and CrPC provisions first.
Civil & Constitutional Law (High)
Constitution of India · Fundamental Rights & Duties · CPC (Civil Procedure Code) · Limitation Act · Transfer of Property Act · Contract Act
💡 Constitutional law appears in both Law and GK sections. Strong overlap advantage.
Madhya Pradesh GK (Key)
MP History · Dynasties & Freedom Movement · Art, Culture & Tribes · Dialects & Folk Music · Tourist Places · Personalities · Geography of MP
💡 MP-specific GK is heavily tested. Dedicate separate notes for MP alone — it differentiates candidates.
India & World GK (Medium)
Current Affairs (last 12 months) · Indian Polity · Economy basics · Science & Technology · Awards & Honours · Important Events
💡 Stay current — recent legal amendments (especially criminal law reforms) are high frequency.
⚠️ Negative Marking Alert: −1 mark per wrong answer on a 450-mark paper is brutal. Do NOT guess randomly — if unsure, leave it blank. Selective accuracy beats scatter-shot attempts every time.
🏆 Honest Verdict — Should You Apply?
✅ Apply If...
• LLB complete from recognized university • Targeting a permanent gazetted state govt post in law • Strong in criminal law — IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act • MP domicile candidate — gets reservation + age benefit • First division LLB or 2 years Bar practice — preference given • Female MP domicile candidate — 6 of 17 seats reserved for you
❌ Skip If...
• No LLB degree — BA/B.Com/B.Sc not acceptable • Poor in law subjects — Part B (300 marks) will eliminate you • Two-child policy violation (after 26 Jan 2001) • Expecting interview-only selection — written exam is primary filter
Bottom Line
Only 17 seats. Competition will be fierce from LLB pass-outs across MP and other states. Your Law score (300 marks, Part B) decides everything — not GK. If your Criminal Law fundamentals are strong and you're serious about a prosecution career, this is a career-defining opportunity. Apply before 8 May — the late fee is not worth the delay.
⚠️ Critical Instructions
Missing 8 May deadline means paying ₹3,000–₹25,000 extra in late fees. There is no excuse to miss this.
Negative marking is −1 per wrong answer (not −0.25). This is aggressive. Do not guess.
Two-child policy: children born after 26 January 2001 counted. More than 2 = ineligible.
Other state candidates are eligible but treated as General (UR) — no reservation or higher age limit.
If total applicants are fewer than 500, written exam may be skipped — direct interview. Check MPPSC website after 8 May.
Form correction window: 14 April – 10 May 2026. Use it if you made errors — do not reapply.
Exam in 4 cities only: Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior. Choose your centre carefully during form fill.
