The Indian Army has released the official notification for the 144th Technical Graduate Course (TGC-144), commencing January 2027 at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. This is a Permanent Commission officer entry exclusively for unmarried male engineering graduates. 30 vacancies are available across 6 engineering streams — Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, and Miscellaneous Engineering. There is no written exam and absolutely no application fee. Selection is purely through SSB Interview. On commissioning, candidates become Lieutenants with ₹56,100–₹1,77,500/month pay plus Military Service Pay ₹15,500/month and full Army benefits. Applications close 11 June 2026 at 3:00 PM.

ℹ️ Promotion Path: Lieutenant → Captain → Major → Lt. Colonel → Colonel → Brigadier → Major General → Lt. General → General. TGC officers are promoted to Captain on completion of 2 years of service. This is a career for life.

🎯 Selection Process — No Written Exam

1. Application Shortlisting First Cut

   Applications shortlisted stream-wise based on cumulative percentage in Engineering degree. Cut-off percentage (stream-wise) published by Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) around June 2026. Only candidates above the cut-off are called for SSB. Higher your engineering marks, better your shortlisting chances.
   

2. SSB Interview (5 Days) ⭐ Everything Decided Here

   Stage I (Day 1–2): Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test + Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT). Candidates not qualifying Stage I are sent back same day. Stage II (Day 2–5): Psychology Tests (TAT, WAT, SRT, SD) + Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks (outdoor group tasks, command task, individual obstacles) + Personal Interview + Conference. Final merit = SSB marks only (not engineering percentage).
   

3. Medical Examination Qualifying

   SSB-recommended candidates undergo detailed medical examination at Army Base Hospitals. Vision, hearing, fitness checked against Army standards. Medically unfit candidates can appeal to Appeal Medical Board.
   

4. Final Merit List + Joining

   Merit list prepared stream-wise based on SSB marks only (not engineering percentage — that was only for shortlisting). Selected candidates report to IMA Dehradun for January 2027 course. 12-month training leads to Permanent Commission as Lieutenant.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

• Stream name mismatch = automatic cancellation. Your degree must show the exact engineering stream matching the official list. Any variation in stream naming = application rejected.

• Final merit list is based on SSB marks only — not your engineering percentage. Percentage is only used for initial shortlisting. Don't think high marks guarantee selection.

• Application closes 11 June 2026 at 3:00 PM sharp. No extension. Portal shuts down exactly at 15:00 hrs IST.

• Aadhaar number + Matriculation certificate are mandatory for registration. Have both ready before starting the form.

• If your degree shows CGPA, get official university percentage conversion certificate before applying. Army does not convert — you must enter percentage.

• SSB call letter is sent only via registered Email and SMS. Check your registered email regularly after application closes.

• Register at joinindianarmy.nic.in → Officer Entry Apply/Login → Register → Apply for TGC-144. New registration takes 5–10 minutes — complete it early.

• After form submission, take printout 30 minutes after 3 PM on last date. One copy for SSB interview, one for your record.
