Coal India Limited (CIL), India's largest coal-producing Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for 276 Management Trainee posts in Mining Engineering. This is a dedicated recruitment for Mining graduates with a valid GATE 2025 score in the Mining (MN) paper. There is no separate written exam — your GATE 2025 score directly determines your shortlisting. Selected candidates join as E-1 grade officers with ₹60,000/month starting basic pay. GATE 2025 Score-based Shortlisting ⭐ Everything Decided Here
Candidates shortlisted category-wise in 1:3 ratio (3 candidates per vacancy) based on GATE 2025 Mining (MN) score in order of merit. Final merit list = GATE 2025 marks only. No separate written exam conducted by CIL. Tie-breaking: first by Mining degree percentage/CGPA, then by age (senior candidate preferred).
Document Verification (DV) Qualifying
Shortlisted candidates called for DV at CIL offices. Documents verified: Mining Engineering degree + marksheets, GATE 2025 scorecard, age proof (Matriculation certificate), category certificate (OBC/SC/ST/EWS), CGPA conversion certificate (if applicable). Any discrepancy = disqualification.
Initial Medical Examination (IME) Qualifying
Medical fitness check at CIL designated hospitals. Must meet medical standards for E-1 officer in Coal India. Offer of appointment issued only after clearing DV + IME both.

GATE 2025 MN only. GATE 2024, GATE 2026, or any other GATE paper = rejected. No exceptions, no appeals.
60% is absolute. 59.99% = not eligible. CIL does not round up. Get official university percentage conversion certificate if your transcript shows CGPA.
Final year students are NOT eligible for the GATE route — unlike the CBT route (Advt 03/2026), degree must already be completed.

OBC candidates must have a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate. Creamy layer OBC candidates are treated as General.

Total 276 seats hain — UR: 114, EWS: 27, OBC-NCL: 74, SC: 41, ST: 20. Yeh seats tentative hain aur CIL ki requirement ke hisaab se change ho sakti hain. Category-wise shortlisting 1:3 ratio mein hogi matlab ek vacancy ke liye 3 candidates shortlist honge.
Kya GATE 2024 ya GATE 2026 score valid hai?
Bilkul nahi. Sirf GATE 2025 score valid hai, aur woh bhi sirf Mining Engineering (Paper Code: MN) mein. GATE 2024 ya 2026 ka score absolutely rejected hai. Kisi aur GATE subject ka score bhi valid nahi hai.
Is recruitment mein CBT exam hoga?
Nahi. Advt 01/2026 (GATE Mining route) mein koi separate CBT ya written exam nahi hoga. Selection sirf GATE 2025 (MN paper) marks ke basis par hoga. DV aur Medical examination baad mein honge, lekin woh qualifying stages hain — merit GATE score se banti hai.
Final year Mining Engg student apply kar sakta hai?
Nahi. GATE route (Advt 01/2026) ke liye degree pehle se complete honi chahiye aur GATE 2025 score available hona chahiye. Final year students eligible nahi hain. (Note: CBT route Advt 03/2026 mein final year students apply kar sakte hain agar August 31, 2026 tak result aa jaye.)
Service bond kya hai — ₹3 lakh refund hota hai ya nahi?
Haan, refund hota hai. ₹3 lakh ka service bond sign karna padta hai joining ke waqt. Salary se ₹5,000/month deduct hota hai. 60 mahine (5 saal) complete karne ke baad poora ₹3 lakh bina interest ke refund ho jata hai. Agar 5 saal pehle naukri choddi toh ₹3 lakh pay karna padega.
