Coal India Limited (CIL), India's largest coal-producing Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 for 276 Management Trainee posts in Mining Engineering. This is a dedicated recruitment for Mining graduates with a valid GATE 2025 score in the Mining (MN) paper. There is no separate written exam — your GATE 2025 score directly determines your shortlisting. Selected candidates join as E-1 grade officers with ₹60,000/month starting basic pay. ⚠️ Bond Deduction: ₹5,000/month deducted from salary as service bond recovery for 60 months. This is fully refunded after 5 years of service. Gross take-home will be lower during bond period.

🎯 Selection Process — 3 Stages, No CBT

1. GATE 2025 Score-based Shortlisting ⭐ Everything Decided Here

   Candidates shortlisted category-wise in 1:3 ratio (3 candidates per vacancy) based on GATE 2025 Mining (MN) score in order of merit. Final merit list = GATE 2025 marks only. No separate written exam conducted by CIL. Tie-breaking: first by Mining degree percentage/CGPA, then by age (senior candidate preferred).
   
   

2. Document Verification (DV) Qualifying

   Shortlisted candidates called for DV at CIL offices. Documents verified: Mining Engineering degree + marksheets, GATE 2025 scorecard, age proof (Matriculation certificate), category certificate (OBC/SC/ST/EWS), CGPA conversion certificate (if applicable). Any discrepancy = disqualification.
   
   

3. Initial Medical Examination (IME) Qualifying

   Medical fitness check at CIL designated hospitals. Must meet medical standards for E-1 officer in Coal India. Offer of appointment issued only after clearing DV + IME both.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

• GATE 2025 MN only. GATE 2024, GATE 2026, or any other GATE paper = rejected. No exceptions, no appeals.

• 60% is absolute. 59.99% = not eligible. CIL does not round up. Get official university percentage conversion certificate if your transcript shows CGPA.

• Final year students are NOT eligible for the GATE route — unlike the CBT route (Advt 03/2026), degree must already be completed.

• Apply only at coalindia.in → Career with CIL → Jobs at Coal India. Application via any other website is invalid.

• Photo uploaded must be taken within 3 weeks of application date. Older photos = form rejection.

• Shortlisting updates and DV intimation will be posted on coalindia.in website only — check regularly after applying.

• Service bond ₹3 lakh is fully refunded after 60 months of service — without interest. It is a security deposit, not a penalty.

• OBC candidates must have a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate. Creamy layer OBC candidates are treated as General.
