📚 High-Priority Syllabus + Strategy

Law — Paper II (Prelims)

  • 150M

  • IPC · CrPC · CPC · Evidence Act · Constitution of India · Contracts Act · Transfer of Property Act · Limitation Act · Specific Relief Act

  • 💡 Highest weight paper in Prelims. Revise bare Acts daily. IPC + CrPC carry maximum questions. New criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA) replacing IPC/CrPC are expected in 2026 syllabus — prepare both.

General Studies — Paper I (Prelims)

  • 100M

  • Current Affairs · Indian History · Geography · Indian Polity & Constitution · Economy · Bihar-specific GK (History, Culture, Administration)

  • 💡 Bihar GK is a differentiator — most candidates ignore it. Strong Bihar section = edge over competition. Read Bihar budget, Patna High Court news, and state current affairs.

General Hindi (Mains — Qualifying)

  • Must Pass

  • Hindi grammar · Sandhi, Samas, Alankar · Comprehension · Essay writing · Letter/Report writing · Official language usage

  • 💡 Minimum 30% required to qualify — do not take lightly. Many Delhi-based candidates fail here. Practice Hindi essay writing specific to legal/judicial themes.

Mains Optional Law Papers

  • High

  • Choose 3 from: Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Revenue Law, Labour Law, Administrative Law, Family Law, Company Law

  • 💡 Choose subjects from your LLB specialization + court practice area. Mains is descriptive — answer writing quality matters more than raw knowledge volume.

🏆 Honest Verdict — Should You Apply?

Bottom Line

Bihar Civil Judge is one of the most respected and well-paid state judicial posts in India. ₹77,840–1,36,520 basic pay, permanent tenure, and the authority of a judicial officer. If you have the LLB + 3-year Bar experience and are serious about a judicial career — this is your exam. Apply before 30 April and start Prelims preparation immediately for 30 May.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

  • 3-year Bar experience certificate must be from State Bar Council. Informal practice without enrollment certificate will not be counted.

  • Age cutoff is 01 August 2025— not 2026. Verify your age calculation accordingly.

  • Aadhaar mandatory for biometric verification. Without Aadhaar, pay additional ₹200. Provide Aadhaar to avoid extra cost.

  • New criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA replacing IPC, CrPC) are expected in syllabus — confirm from official notification PDF before starting preparation.

  • Complete OTR (One-Time Registration) on bpsconline.bihar.gov.in before filling the application form.

  • 35% horizontal women reservation = approximately 61 posts across all categories. Female candidates have a strong advantage.

  • Previous cycle (32nd) had 154 posts — 2026 has 173. Vacancies are increasing, making this a growing opportunity.
