🎯 Selection Process

1. Preliminary Examination Screening Only

   Objective MCQ exam. Paper I — General Studies: 100 marks. Paper II — Law: 150 marks. Total: 250 marks, 210 minutes. No negative marking. Prelims only screens for Mains — marks not counted in final merit. Exam date: 30 May 2026.
   

2. Mains Examination ⭐ Most Critical Stage

   Descriptive written exam. Compulsory papers: General Hindi (qualifying, 30% min), General English (qualifying), General Knowledge, Science & Technology, Evidence & Procedure. 3 Optional papers from law subjects of your choice. Final merit = Mains + Interview combined score.
   

3. Interview / Viva-Voce Final Stage

   Evaluates legal knowledge, communication, judicial temperament, and suitability. Bring Bar experience certificate, LLB degree, and all original documents. Professional demeanor expected — this is a judicial appointment.

• 💡 Minimum 30% required to qualify — do not take lightly. Many Delhi-based candidates fail here. Practice Hindi essay writing specific to legal/judicial themes.

• 💡 Choose subjects from your LLB specialization + court practice area. Mains is descriptive — answer writing quality matters more than raw knowledge volume.

⚠️ Critical Instructions

• 3-year Bar experience certificate must be from State Bar Council. Informal practice without enrollment certificate will not be counted.

• Age cutoff is 01 August 2025— not 2026. Verify your age calculation accordingly.

• Aadhaar mandatory for biometric verification. Without Aadhaar, pay additional ₹200. Provide Aadhaar to avoid extra cost.

• New criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA replacing IPC, CrPC) are expected in syllabus — confirm from official notification PDF before starting preparation.

• Complete OTR (One-Time Registration) on bpsconline.bihar.gov.in before filling the application form.

• 35% horizontal women reservation = approximately 61 posts across all categories. Female candidates have a strong advantage.
